A370 Long Ashton Bypass - March 2018

In March 2018, Highways will be carrying out waterproofing works on a section of the Long Ashton bypass.

Due to the nature of the works, and the high speeds on this section on road, they will need to close the A370 to allow our crew to work safely.
The closure will be on the A370 between the exit at Cambridge Batch and the roundabout with the South Bristol Link road (A4174 Colliters Way).

The works are scheduled to start on Monday 12 March and are due to take five nights to complete. The working hours on site will be overnight between 8pm and 5am in order to minimise disruption on this busy route.

We're using the road closure to carry out multiple other repair and maintenance works on the section of road that is closed, including:

  • Waterproofing the bridge deck of the bypass
  • Improving signage for the 2+ lane along the A370
  • Carrying out maintenance on street lighting columns
  • Repairs to vehicle restraint systems (crash barriers)
  • Inspections of Highway Assets
  • Cleansing of the existing drainage system
  • Litter pick of area
  • Clearing over grown vegetation.

The diversion route for traffic heading out of Bristol will be via A4174 Colliters Way and the A38 Bridgwater Road, and will then split between HGV's and Light traffic: light traffic will be signed to use Downside Road, Brockley Coombe Road and back onto the A370, HGVs will be advised to follow signs for the M5 South.

The diversion route for light traffic heading towards Bristol will be via the B3130 Clevedon Road, Weston Road, Long Ashton Road and the B3128 Ashton
