Foreword by Colin Pope Chair of Backwell Parish Council

I am delighted that Backwell now has a Community Plan developed by the community for the community. It will help guide the Parish Council, North Somerset Council and service providers about the needs and aspirations of Backwellians.

The Council will take into consideration the views of parishioners, as expressed in the Community Plan, whenever this is appropriate and within the resources and powers available.

On behalf of the Parish Council I would like to thank the Steering Group and the Committee of volunteers that have developed the plan over the last year and a half. I also thank those members of the community that have helped in many ways, not least by completing and returning the questionnaires!

The Plan is a double step forward for the village because it coincides with Backwell winning the Calor Large Village of the Year competition for Avonside area 2009/10. Well done and thank you everyone!
