MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY 17TH
JUNE 2010 IN BACKWELL PARISH HALL, BACKWELL, AT 1900 HOURS
Present: Cllrs R Taylor (Chairman), C Pope, K Merryweather, M Gibbons-Price, R Mason, D Sparks, G Wills, S Ould and the Office Assistant Mrs E Rose

1. To elect a Chairman
026 Cllr R Mason proposed Cllr R Taylor, seconded by Cllr K Merryweather. There were no other nominations, and Cllr R Taylor was elected.
2. To receive the Chairman's Acceptance of Office
027 Cllr R Taylor signed the Chairman's Acceptance of Office, witnessed by the Office
Assistant

6. Minutes
The minutes of the Planning Committee Meeting held on 15.4.10, copies having been
previously circulated, were confirmed as a correct record by those present at that meeting

7. To consider the following Planning Applications:-
a. Planning Application no. 10/P/0856/F - Backwell School, Station
Road, Backwell - Mrs K Martin - Relocation of modular classroom
buildings and one classroom to be removed from site
032 Resolved: Unanimously no objection
b. Planning Application no. 10/P/0877/F - Homelea, Downside Road,
Backwell - Mrs B Haskell - Erection of a two storey side extension
and a single storey side extension to replace outbuildings
033 Resolved: Unanimously this property is in Green Belt. If the proposed extension is above 50% we would not approve it.
c. Planning Application no. 10/P/0881/F - 105 Church Lane, Backwell
Mr P Smith - Erection of a detached double garage
034 Resolved: Unanimously object on the grounds that the garage is overbearing and out of keeping with the adjoining properties. The visual effect on No. 103 is not acceptable as it is a bungalow.
d. Planning Application no. 10/P/0885/LB - Farleigh Cottage, 1 Backwell
Hill Road, Backwell - Miss L M de Beetham Page - Replace part
rotten front oak door and softwood door frame with oak door and
frame. Replace part rotten back softwood door and white softwood
door frame with oak door and frame

e. Planning Application no. 10/P/0889/F - The Willings, Downside Road,
Backwell - Mr D Filer - Erection of a single storey extension to south
west elevation
036 Resolved: Unanimously no objection. The property is in Green Belt but the increase in size is less than 50%
