MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY 15TH
JULY 2010 IN BACKWELL PARISH HALL, BACKWELL, AT 1900 HOURS

4. Minutes
The minutes of the Planning Committee Meeting held on 17.6.10, copies having been
previously circulated, were confirmed as a correct record by those present at that meeting
041 and signed by the Chairman.
5. To receive and consider letter from NSC dated 5.7.10 advising of consultation on Development Management Policies for Development in North Somerset's Green Belt and Residential Parking Standards
The Chairman outlined details of a forthcoming consultation received from North Somerset Council re green belt and residential parking standards.
042 Resolved: Unanimously a letter commenting on the proposed consultation to be sent to North Somerset Council.
6. To consider the following Planning Applications:-
a. Planning Application no. 10/P/1124/F - Coombe Cottage, 66 Church Lane, Backwell - Mr & Mrs D Rowley - Erection of single storey rear extension between outbuildings A & B. Insertion of 8 no. rooflights to rear elevation and outbuildings A & B.
043 Resolved: Unanimously because of its complexity, Backwell Parish Council are unqualified to comment on the individual alterations, but are very keen to ensure that all the proposed alterations comply with the listed building criteria. Coombe Cottage is in the heart of the village and is full of character and history, and the Council is of the opinion it should be kept that way.
b. Planning Application no. 10/P/1125/LB - Coombe Cottage, 66 Church Lane, Backwell - Mr & Mrs D Rowley - Dismantle and reconstruct porch to match existing details. Remove stove and open up inglenook fireplace in reception room 1. Open up inglenook fireplace, infill doorway and construct new window seat in reception room 2. Reduce floor levels and remove staircase, install new timber and stone staircase, remove partition wall and all sanitaryware in room 3/4/Study. Demolish lean-to outbuilding. Open up blocked fireplace, insert 3 no. rooflights and window in the gable wall of outbuilding A/Kitchen. Remove concrete air raid shelter. Insert mezzanine floor, infill window, create new doorway, create new window in gable end and install 2 no. rooflights in outbuilding B. Install 3 no. rooflights in rear elevation. Expose lintel and jambs of fireplace in room 7/Bathroom. Alter doorway and install new staircase in Room 8/Bedroom 2. Construct new single storey extension between outbuilding A & B.
