Backwell Parish Council working with North Somerset Council Development & Environment Highways Team with the help and support of our District Councillor  Karen Barclay have received approval for a fully funded 20mph scheme and the associated traffic calming measures on Station Road.

The scheme will include the already agreed Station Road improvements and introduce a 30mph speed limit on Backwell Common up to the end of the residential development.

The extensive traffic calming measures will include raised tables, additional crossing points, speed cushions, new road signs etc

The pathway to the Bus Stop on Station Road will also be provided under this scheme with the appropriate staggered railings to prevent young children running out onto the road.

The work is proposed to start along with resurfacing works from the 30th July.

The Notice of Intent for the 20mph on Station Road and a 30mph on Backwell Common will be advertised on Thursday 14th July.

NSC press department will release a statement for the works early July, before some advanced scheme information boards go up on-site around the 16th July. A letter drop on Station Road, Meadow Close, The Crescent and Backwell Common will normally happen around the same date (two weeks prior to starting on-site).

If you require any further information please contact the Backwell Parish Council Office.
