Village
Backwell Parish includes a thriving village in North Somerset and about 4500 people. It has excellent transport facilities including bus and car travel to Bristol and Weston super Mare, motorways (M5), its own railway station (including direct to London Paddington and Cardiff) and Bristol International Airport. There are many good sports clubs, cultural activities, allotments, outstanding schools for all age levels, a village club, pubs and beautiful countryside such as Backwell Lake including splendid wildlife / biodiversity and walks. Information about future development including new housing is available and we work closely with the Backwell Residents Association.
Within health services we have a General Practice Medical Centre with a long history, a Dental Practice, Pharmacy and defibrillators. There is a village magazine and lots of things to do (many free).
More Information
Community Connect is a service run by Curo (in partnership with WERN) covering the whole of North Somerset
Community Connect is a service for people over 50 living in North Somerset who would like information, advice or guidance to help them stay living independently at home.
It also gives people the chance to offer their time and skills at events and groups in local communities.
Community Connect can offer you a wide range of support and advice that’s tailored to you.
We can provide:
Information and guidance over the phone, face-to-face or by email
Tailored support for people over 50 to stay connected and active in their communities
Help for you and your community to set up groups and activities that benefit the local area
Opportunities to participate and learn a new skill
Signposting to local services and agencies
The Community Connect service is free of charge to anyone living in North Somerset.
The purpose of the service is to support people to stay connected, supported and active in their communities so that they can remain living independently at home for as long as possible.
The service is different to Care Connect, the local authority call centre for information on Health & Social Care. With Community Connect there is the opportunity for someone to have face to face contact with a representative (via a home visit to address issues that may be of concern to people in a more informal way).
Community Connect improves awareness of services, providing support and advice to help people access the services they need.
This may include; access to social groups, increasing income, maintaining their home safely or considering other options for housing, reducing isolation and loneliness and promoting independence through befriending.
If you would like to get in touch for information, to ask for advice or to request a home visit to talk over a query or problem please phone 01275 888803 or email communityconnect@curo-group.co.uk
