MINUTES OF THE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON THURSDAY 2ND JUNE 2016
IN BACKWELL PARISH HALL, BACKWELL

The Chairman opened the meeting by welcoming everyone present and pointed out the location of the emergency exits and toilets

253 The Minutes of the Annual Council meeting held on the 19th May 2016 were unanimously confirmed as a correct record by those present at that meeting

255 The Chairman’s comments were noted regarding the advertising campaign
on local radio for Neighbourhood Plans
256 The Chairman spoke of complaints received regarding grass cutting by NSC,
who are leaving some grassed areas uncut to encourage wildlife

Cllr M Bowerman reported on the forthcoming tree planting ceremony
taking place on Saturday 4th June to commemorate the Queen’s 90th
birthday, and asked for help on the day

Cllr S Mitchell updated members on the recent meeting he had attended
to discuss the problems with the Downside Road/A38 junction

278 The Clerk left the meeting whilst the following was discussed
Resolved: Unanimously the Chairman to take the minutes in the absence
of the Clerk
279 Resolved: Unanimously Backwell Parish Council proposes the Clerk and
Office Assistant be awarded the new pay rates as advised by NALC and
SLCC for 2016 and 2017 from 1st April 2016, and the Village Orderly be
appointed to spinal point 12 and be awarded the new pay rates for 2016
and 2017 from 1st April 2016
280 The Clerk rejoined the meeting and was advised of the resolution
281 The Chairman, on behalf of the Parish Council, said goodbye to Cllr Rebecca
Barclay and wished her luck in her new teaching career
282 There being no further items of business, the Chairman closed the meeting at 2003 hours
