Backwell Parish Council is consulted on planning applications and local planning policies. While we provide comments, North Somerset Council is the Planning Authority and makes the final decisions. Our role is to bring local knowledge and community perspective to the planning process.

What the Parish Council Does Regarding Planning
Monthly Planning Committee Meetings:
The Planning Committee meets monthly to review planning applications affecting the village and agree on comments to submit.
Submitting Comments:
All comments are formally submitted to North Somerset Council and are publicly available on the North Somerset Planning Portal. While we cannot decide the outcome of applications, our aim is to ensure local insights guide decisions that benefit the village.
Monitoring Developments:
We keep an eye on local developments and report any unauthorised work or planning breaches to North Somerset Council. This helps protect the village’s character and addresses potential safety concerns promptly.t Goes Here
