21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022 Sarah Ould, Chairman, expresses the deep sadness of Backwell Parish Council and the residents of Backwell at the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September 2022 and our sincere gratitude for her 70 years of service and leadership as sovereign. A Backwell book of condolence will be available for people to sign at the Parish Hall from the morning of 9 September. More information about national events / funeral arrangements and a national e-book of condolence is available on the Royal website (www.royal.uk). Flags in Backwell are to be flown at half-mast in Backwell for the days of mourning, except for the proclamation. The Development 18 - 36 Working Party completed its work in Spring 2020 and was closed. That was partly because our efforts needed to be concentrated on the North Somerset Council Local Plan and more details can be found here.
27 April 2022 Backwell Parish Council's responses to the North Somerset Council Local Plan consultation have now been submitted to North Somerset Council and can be read here. We expect our responses will also be published on the North Somerset Council website in due course. We are very grateful for the input of residents and the thoughtful written comments submitted to us which informed and aided our work. We encourage residents to also submit their comments directly to North Somerset Council as individuals before the deadline of 29 April. Backwell Parish Council Local Plan Working Party's current activity is now completed and so both the working party and this page are now closed and so will not be updated for the time being. This survey is complete and the results are being examined. A working party is preparing for the North Somerset Local Plan and has started work. We will be updating the village here:
