22 October 2019: Statement for Residents on possible Taylor Wimpey Planning Application for land near the Backwell Scout Hut

We have been seeking information about a potential planning application in relation to land immediately to the West of the Backwell Scout Hut. To date we have been able to clarify with Taylor Wimpey that:

  1. They are consulting and investigating the possibility of applying for approximately 60 houses on this site, accessed from Rodney Road. They have told Backwell Parish Council that they will be holding a public consultation / presentation during the afternoon and into the evening of Thursday 21 November 2019 in the Parish Hall.
  2. No planning application has been made and will not be submitted before the consultation. Following that an outline planning application is anticipated.
  3. Taylor Wimpey do not consider this as a phase in the developments previously discussed in relation to Grove Farm.
  4. They told us that the recent digging on site was to explore the possibilities of water-drainage (e.g. soak-away or ditch requirements).

We encourage all interested residents to attend the consultation on 21 November 2019 and make their views known to both Taylor Wimpey and the Backwell Parish Council. We intend to keep residents informed of further information as we can, using this website.

Peter Soothill (Chair and on behalf of Backwell Parish Council), 22 October 2019.
