North Somerset Council Local Plan – Important Update for Residents
North Somerset Council’s (NSC) revised draft Regulation 19 Local Plan is now open for public consultation. All responses must be submitted by 12th December at 5.00pm sharp!
The plan highlights Backwell, along with Nailsea, as a strategic area for growth, proposing almost 4,000 homes between us. This includes a proposal for another 1,000 houses on a vast area of East Backwell (EB), across land stretching from the Leisure Centre to The George, along with a new road linking the A370 to Station Road opposite Backwell Lake. Together with the 800 homes already consented, this would DOUBLE the size of our village within the next 10 years.
United We Stand
Backwell Parish Council (BPC) is working closely with Backwell Residents Association (BRA), Backwell Resistance (BR), Brockley Parish Council, Nailsea Town Council and Nailsea Action Group to challenge this scheme. WE CAN DO THIS!!
This proposal is NOT a sustainable model, it is financially unviable, and it would be built on Green Belt land – including valuable Grade 1 agricultural land – only 7% of which remains in North Somerset.
WE CAN OVERTURN THIS SCHEME IF WE STAND TOGETHER!
COMING TO YOUR HOMES…
